Hey Dave, my wife and I care for about 20 cats and some are special needs cats. We love them as children and I can’t understand why anyone would abuse or abandon these beautiful creatures. Are you a cat man? Noticed you have one. Ronnie

First, thanks for clicking on my website. I hope you come back from time-to-time to see what I’ve managed to dig up.
Now, about “pikes”:
It’s my understanding that the term derived from roads built specifically to connect one town or community to another. Many of these roads were toll roads.
The modern term for such a road is “turnpike”. The original use for the word was for the barrier that stopped traffic until the toll was paid.
You’ll notice that “Pike’ is always preceded by a town…Rutledge Pike, Kingston Pike, Sevierville Pike, Maynardville Pike, and (in earlier years) Clinton Pike.
The original use of the word turnpike was for the actual barrier that prevented travelers from passing without paying the toll.

Dave:
Enjoy your ‘production’ on WNOX.
I’d suggest that voting be limited to only those who paid taxes in 3 out of the last 5 years, and do NOT work for any governmental entity. This would prevent most voting to pad one’s pocket by taxing (stealing from) others.
And all elected persons would be restricted to serve no more than two terms, must handle their own private and family affairs including calculating and filing their own tax forms, procure and pay for their own insurance(s) in the private market, etc. Their pay scale should be set the average of Americans private enterprise employees.

Dave, do you remember the Cas story about the guy who was buried with the snakes in his grocery parking lot? Cas wouldn’t let him up for 3 days because it was drawing so many crowds. Hillarious story!

So when I was in the Army I should not have been allowed to vote. I think you need to check your ideas as I think almost everyone would have a problem with this. How about a simple IQ test to be allowed to vote? (I am serious)
